Founded in 1933 by 5 families from the village. Who together established a cooperative that would handle large quantities of grapes economically and efficiently. The cooperative wears the name of the village where it is located: Capçanes, a village hidden away in the Priorat hills inland from Tarragona and with a long wine growing history.
The company was reinvented in the 1990s as an independent company with its original members as shareholders, today they have around 130 members and they produce a large selection of good quality wines including the well known Peraj Ha’abib – a Kosher wine- under the appellation of Montsant.
Tasting Notes: Medium ruby color. Fruit-laden aromas, especially of cherry, spices and herbs. Medium bodied, good complexity on the mouth, dark berry fruit flavors, vanilla and oaky toasty notes combined with notes of sweet fruit. Soft and velvety tannins on a long and refreshing finish.
Notes: To be enjoyed over the next 4 - 5 years.
