Winery:  Clos Figueras

Region: Gratallops - D.O.Q. Priorat

Vintage: 2019

Bottle: 75cl

Grape Varieties: 80% Grenache and Carignan, 20% Syrah, Mourvedre (Monastrell) and a tiny bit of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Type:  Red wine, oak aged

Alcohol Volume: 15.5%

Serving Temperature:  16º - 18º

Production:

Sourced from a single plot of old vine Grenache and Carignan planted on coster and terraces with the classic "llicorella" soil, placed in a spectacular location just to the north of Gratallops, overlooking the Monsant River Valley.

Elaborated from selected grapes both at the vineyard and at the winery on the selection table. Microvinification in 300-litre oak casks. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation for 3 weeks followed by ageing in French oak barrels of 300 and 500-litre for 12-14 months. Light filtration before bottling.

Tasting Notes:

Intense black fruit-scented nose combined with licorice, Mediterranean herbs, and spicy notes. Fresh and complex on the palate, gentle and elegant with fine tannins and balance. Notes of menthol and spices with a persistent aftertaste.

Note: We recommend letting the wine breathe or decanting before serving.  Potential aging in bottle: 12–15 years.

Clos Figueras was purchased in 1997 by Charlotte and Christopher Cannan on the recommendation of Réne Barbier. The 18-hectare estate is located just to the north of the renowned town of Gratallops. Actually, the vineyard includes around 2500 of old Grenache and Carignan vines, which are the base for the Clos Figueres; the remaining vines were planted in 1998 and are the base for the elaboration of Font de la Figuera and Sierras del Priorat.
