Production: New addition at Sicus, Eduard has taking the opportunity to create yet another original wine this time made from the rustic variety Sumoll, an indigenous varietal from the Penedès region that was almost extinct and lately being rediscovered. Sourced from a 4 ha. single plot from the Finca "El Roldonar" located  in the village of Bonastre in lower Penedès, province of Tarragona, at 170 meters above sea level and growing on clay-loam soils, shallow and low in organic matter. The cultivation of the vineyards is done under sustainable and ecological viticulture. The harvest is done manually  followed by hand sorting of the grapes in the vineyard. Cold maceration during 3 days, the Malolactic fermentation in clay amphora during 6 days followed by 5 months aging in the same amphores. 100% Terroir expression. Bottled in April 2017. Production of 2640 bottles

Sicus Terrers Mediterranis is the Project of Eduard Pie, a young viticultor that belongs to a new generation of wine makers from Bonastre in the Baix Penedès. A family owned winery with more than a 100 years history and experience in producing Bulk wines, until a few years back, when Eduard took charge of the winery, renovating it and starting  to produce good quality wines, he works with indigenous varieties alone and his wines are organically grown and amphora fermented, some of which are buried in the vineyard.

 

Tasting Notes: Red rubi colour with violet highlights. Summer red fruits, gooseberry and strawberry flavours, silky, smooth textured and good acidity levels. Lovely and pleasant wine with a long and elegant finish.
