Production: Selection of grapes from 55 years old vines. Aged for 12 months in new French and American oak followed by another 2 years in bottle. The Prior Pons has only been made until the vintage 2012 after that its production has been ceased.

Celler Prior Pons,was owned by the Jou's family, was located in the village of La Vilella Alta, in northern Priorat. Their 10 Hectares owned Vineyard are located in the municipal district of La Vilella Alta, at the height of 300-400 metres above sea level. The vines are between 15 - 65 years old, being the Carignan vines from the Cabanet and les Planes estate the oldest, planted in 1946. The youngest are the Cabernet Sauvignon vines which were planted in 1995.
The winery produced 2 wines: Prior Pons, which is made with the grapes from the oldest vines, and Planets de Prior Pons, made from a combination of old and young vines.
Tasting Notes: Fresh, lively, complex and good intensity. Dark fruits preserves and balsamic flavours, soft mineral, liquorice and spices notes on the nose. Full bodied, cassis and plum fruit notes. Harmonious and smooth tannins well integrated and elegant. Has good ageing potential.
Notes: It is recommended to decant and opening at least 1 hour before serving. For consuming over the next decade
