Production: Sourced from their 300 ha. Ygay Estate’s vineyards, situated at 500 mt. Above sea level. Hand harvested, grapes are first carefully de-stemmed, fermented at controlled temperature of 25ºC in stainless steel tanks for approximately 8 – 11 days with regular remontage and pigeage processes. Aged in 225 l. American oak barrels during 20 months (of which at least 8 months in new oak) followed by a minimum of 12 months in bottle before being released.
Marqués de Murrieta, founded in 1852, is a family business and one of the most famous Rioja producers. This project is a way of life, with more than 150 years of history has succeeded in adapting to modern times and maintaining at the same time the winery’s identity with a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, which is transmitted and reflected in all the wines they produce. The winery includes almost 300 ha of vineyards in the southernmost part of la Rioja Alta. The extension of its Estate makes Marques de Murrieta one of the few Spanish wineries whose wine is 100% elaborated with their own grapes, thus enabling them to take extra care of the vineyards and to have total control over them.
Tasting Notes: It has a spicy, vanilla and leather nose combined with dark cherry and smoky notes. The palate is ripe, succulent and round, creamy textured with flavours of blackberry, tobacco and a fine edge of spice. A good introduction to superior classic red Rioja
Notes: It is recommended to let it breathe at least 20 minutes before serving. Drinks beautifully now through 2027+.
