Production: Small family winery that produces a small and selected amount of wine in the traditional way. They own 8 hectares comprising of 30 to 100 years old vines and work another 12-14 ha. which are controlled by them. The vines are planted in single row plots in a privileged natural setting on steep slopes ranging between 50% and 70%. They cooperate with other wineries like Niepoort or Raúl Pérez .
Sourced exclusively from a single vineyard, Finca Meixeman, 1.2 ha located at 400-500 meters above sea level from 70 years old Mencia vines planted on granite and slate soils. Blend of Mencia with some 20% of other red local varieties. 40% of full clusters grapes. Long fermentation of about 50 days, afterwards spends 9 months in 225-500 litres used oak barrels. Bottled unclarified, rests another 3 months minimum before its release.
Tasting Note: Beautifully clean nose, fresh red fruit aromas with floral touches. Good complexity on the palate displaying red and black fruit flavors with elegant mineral touches and soft tannins.
