El Pecado is 100% Mencía from Ribera Sacra; this was the first wine from Raúl Pérez from Ribera Sacra and one of the most successful and sought-after. A Ribeira Sacra that it is made in Adegas Guimaro sourced from the Capeliños vineyard, a very old vineyard situated in an exceptional site with steep slopes. It´s sold without the Denomination of Origin seal. Aged in oak barriques during approx. 12 months, and as most of Raúl’s wines, the production of El Pecado is very limited.
Raúl Pérez is regarded as among the most talented and innovative winemakers, almost a legend within the Spanish wine making world and abroad. The collaboration with other wine-makers and wineries have also proved a great success. He works with the autochthonous varietals of the area. He makes amazing wines in different appellations in Galicia and elsewhere, always small and select productions. To get hold of his wines is not that easy as they are probably one of the most sought-after.
Tasting notes: Mineral with a note of dry flowers and aromatic herbs, hints of ripe black fruits, currents and raspberries and a touch of spiciness. Elegant, complex and very stylish, great acidity and fine tannins.
Notes: With a good capacity for ageing, it will continue to evolve for several years and will drink well for 10 – 15 years.
