Production: Elaborated primarily  from a selection of grapes from the youngest plantations aged between 6 to 12 years old. Fermentation takes place in 1500 and 5000 litre stainless steel tanks during 17 days at controlled temperature of  25 – 29ºC with daily pigeage and gentle remontage. Ageing during 14 months in 225 and 300 litre light and medium toasted fine grained 2º and 3^rd year wine French oak barriques.

Celler Vall Llach, founded at the beginning of the 1990s, is located in the village of Porrera in the highly acclaimed wine region known as Priorat.  The Celler owns a selection of magnificent old estates – known locally as trossos- planted with 60 to 90 year old Carignan and Grenache vines, located on steep slate hillsides, receiving optimum sun exposure at a considerable height above sea level and unable to retain water. Vall Llach cultivates their old vines according to traditional methods, without the use of machinery. They also complement their stocks with the careful purchase of grapes from farms selected for their quality from among the oldest and most reputable of the Porrera and Torroja area.  In the early 90s, the celler had also started some new plantations intended to complete the Celler’s wine production, choosing the varieties of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. A very limited part of these varieties will then be used to complete and soften the complexities and taste of  their signature wine Vall Llach. Although mainly theses grapes from these new plantations will be used for the production of the Embruix, the 3^rd wine of the celler and another part also of extremely high quality will help to define the second house wine: Idus de Vall Llach.    www.vallllach.com

Tasting Notes:   Intense aromas of  ripe black cherry, anise, toasted and mineral scented nose. Full bodied, displaying lots of spiced dark fruits on the palate, complemented by mineral and toasted flavours. Good concentration, silky tannins and good depth.

Notes: It is recommended to decant the wine. Drink over the next 6 – 8 years.
