Production: The cultivation of the vineyards is organic, only using organic fertilizers and natural products. The Morenillo, a variety almost extinguished, has been recently recovered with native plants. The wine aged for 6 months in French Allier oak.
Celler Bàrbara Forés is a family owned winery that dates back to the 19th century. It takes the name from its original founder and winemaking, a pioneer of the 19th century, Bàrbara Forés (1825-1905), who together with her son Rafael Ferrer, built the Bodega and equipped it for bottling wine, which was something rare in that century. Now the winery is in the hands of their descendant Carmen Ferrer and her husband Manuel Sanmartin, who took the winery over in 1994, restoring it and making it work again. Actually, they have 45 ha. of which 22 ha. are planted with vines.
Tasting Notes: Nicely black ripe fruit, toasty and mineral nose with good grip and sweet spices. Savory, quite intense, good balance between fruit and wood, mature tannins, fresh acidity and long finish.
