Production: From the vintage 2009 the wine is elaborated under the new appellation “Vi de la Vila” from Gratallops, This legislation introduced in 2009 by the DOQ Priorat, recognises and protects each region’s different characteristics, viniculture, climatic, soil, etc.... with the purpose of highlighting their particular characteristics. Cal Batllet produces wines exclusively from their own vineyards, planted mainly with the autochthonous varieties Grenache and Carignan on licorella soils. The grapes for this remarkable wine are sourced from five different selected Costers (sloped vineyards) in the outskirts of Gratallops, where the age of the vines can reach up to 100 years. Fermented in open barrels at a temperature of 26º and gentle extracted. Aged during 15 months in new French oak barrels. This wine is remarkable for its complexity and elegance, as well as its character, which perfectly displays the Terroir where it comes from. 1312 Bottles produced.
Tasting Notes: Complex, ripe, elegant, ripe red and black fruit, notes of cassis, cedar wood and spices as well as marked minerality, smooth and velvety textured with plenty of flavour and character and a long persistent finish.
Notes: Drinking beautifully now and over the next decade.
