Production:  Salustia Alvarez is the man behind the project of Bodega Alvarez Duran, a small family winery in Porrera, a village in the heart of the Priorat Region, the emblematic wine-making area in Cataluña. They craft small quantities of great quality and singular wines using fruit from very old vineyards inherited by their ancestors, two vineyards with a total of 7 ha. located in the outskirts of the village, with vines growing on steep slopes and terraces on soil composed of the locally known as llicorella, sheets of slate stones; “El Fonellas” a tiny vineyard and home to the oldest vines planted as far as 1896, mostly Carignan vines holding on very steep licorella slopes with a drop of 44% and west orientated. And “La Rapita” vineyard, here the vines are much younger, planted around 1996 and growing on slopes with gradient ranging between 21% to 52%.

The wines are made with impeccable care and always with great regard to tradition, great passion and deep respect for nature, they capture the soul of the distinctive soil of the Priorat, with its characteristic pure fruit expression and a unique combination of minerality and texture.

Dual is a blend of five different varieties sourced from the estate’s two vineyards. Grapes harvested by hand. Vinification in steel tanks with natural yeasts and long macerations of 25 to 30 days. The wine spends 14 months in barrel and another three months in bottle.

Tasting notes: Deep black fruit aromas, ripe, mineral tones and floral touches. Full bodied red, subtle oak and spice, fleshy with dark berry fruit flavours, keenly balanced in acidity with subtle layers of spice and toast, warm finish.

Notes: It is recommended to let it breathe in the glass for a short time to achieve its maximum potential. Good ageing potential.
