Ultreia Mencia is clear representative to the Bierzo style. It is a Mencía wine, a cuvee from old vines sourced from different plots in Valtuille de abajo and Salas de los Barrios, within the DO Bierzo. Fermented with partly whole cluster in oak Foudres, long maceration and matured for 12 months in used barriques.

Tasting notes: All finesse, complex and elegant. Floral scents, mature fruit, spiciness and mineral, good acidity, tannins present yet not aggressive.

Raúl Pérez is regarded as among the most talented and innovative winemakers, almost a legend within the Spanish winemaking world and abroad. The collaboration with other wine makers and wineries has also proved a great success. He works with the autochthonous varietals of the area. He makes amazing wines in different appellations in Galicia and elsewhere, always small and selected productions. Getting hold of his wines is not that easy as they are probably one of the most sought-after.
