Gratallops Vi de Vila 5 Partides is a 100% Carignan wine from the oldest vines of up to 100-year old family-owned vineyards. A wine that conveys all the personality of the Gratallops terroir is mineral-based, complex, ripe, elegant and smooth, and have a lengthy finish.

Production

Fermented in open barrels at a temperature of 26º and gently extracted. Aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels.

2205 bottles were produced.

Tasting Notes:

Complex, ripe, elegant, ripe red and black fruit, notes of cassis, cedar wood, and spices, as well as marked minerality, smooth and velvety texture with plenty of flavour and character, and a long, persistent finish.

Notes: Drinking beautifully now and over the next decade.

Cal Batllet produces wines exclusively from their own vineyards, planted mainly with the autochthonous varieties Grenache and Carignan on licorella soils. The grapes for this remarkable wine are sourced from five different selected Costers (sloped vineyards) on the outskirts of Gratallops, where the age of the vines can reach up to 100 years.

From the 2009 vintage, the wine is produced under the new appellation "Vi de la Vila" from Gratallops. This  legislation, introduced in 2009 by the DOQ Priorat, recognises and protects each region’s different characteristics including viniculture, climate, soil and others, with the purpose of highlighting their particular characteristics.
