Shirus is a single-varietal wine made at the family's winery in the village of Poboleda. The Syrah grapes are sourced from two vineyards, La Pleta and Les Foreses, located around the village and inside the district of Priorat, which gives the wine the designation of origin Priorat. The vines thrive on the characteristic soil of the region, Llicorella, on slate-soil terraces on moderately sloped terrain.
The grapes are manually harvested after a process of selection both at the vineyard and at the winery, macerated, and fermented in stainless steel containers.
The wine ages in a single 500-litre French oak barrel for 12 months, then goes through a smooth filtering process before bottling.

Tasting Notes:
Blackberry, dark cherry, spicy nose with a floral touch of violets. Deep and warm, ripe, smooth oak with a liquorice touch and elegant mature black fruit, very expressive, ripe but elegant and smooth with a pleasant long finish.
Notes: To get the wine's fullest flavour, it is recommended to let it breathe in the glass. It has good ageing potential.
THE WINERY
Celler Totó Marqués is a small family-run operation with 21 hectares of own vines, organically certified by the authority CCPAE, the Catalan Council of Organic Production, the public watchdog responsible to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Catalan Government.
They have produce wines since 2015 in the village of Poboleda within the DOQ Priorat and in the village of Prades (Tarragona) with their project Prades 950, which was born from their interest in recovering the vine growing culture of the region and achieving high-altitude wines with a minimum of intervention and organically farmed. The result are wines with character and personality, wines that speak of the terroir where they come from.
