Venus de la Figuera is the result of the collaboration between Venus La Universal (Pérez and René Barbier Jr.) and the Cooperativa de La Figuera. The wine comes from a single estate, la finca del Guixà, in the village of La Figuera, south of the Montsant DO. The estate, situated at 600 meters of altitude, belongs to the La Figuera cooperative. The Black Grenache grown here is characterised by its finesse, with less structure but with a more pronounced acidity. They are all farmed organically and sustainably.

Production:

The grapes are sourced from a selection of handpicked grapes. Vinified partly with stems. Fermentation takes place in open 500-litre barrels. Long maceration of 30 to 35 days. Aged for 18 months in 300-litre amphorae.

Tasting Notes:

Pure, succulent Garnacha. Juicy fruit, floral notes with marked mineral notes, and herbaceous touches. Good fruit expression, elegant and fresh on the palate, refreshing acidity, and fine tannins.

Venus la Universal is a small winery located in the locality of Falset within the Denomination of Origin Montsant. It belongs to Sara Perez and her husband René Barbier Jr., a young and super talented couple of enologists who make a very special team with plenty of experience, energy, and talent. Their 4 ha of vineyards are planted on granitic soils that are acidic and very poor in organic matter. They are all organically farmed, showing at all times a great respect for nature and the environment.
