This is the newcomer organic farming to the Capçanes selection. In 2006 some of the growers chose to practise organic farming and as a result, Mas Picosa was born, the first wine from the Celler organically farmed.

Production:  

Sourced from different plots of different parts of the valley located at an altitude of  150 to 450 meters above the sea level.  Vinification of the different grapes varieties separately in stainless steel tanks, fermentation at temperature controlled at 24 – 28ºC, light filtration and soft fining. Aging in stainless steel tanks “sur lie” for 5 months.

Tasting Notes:  Good concentration of aromas, vibrant fruits, spiciness and slightly sweet nose. Deep youthful, smooth oak, spice notes, easy going texture and lively, charming style with sweet tannins and a bright fresh finish.

Notes:  To be drank over the next 2 – 3 years.

The Winery

Founded in 1933 by 5 families from the village of Capçanes. Who together established a cooperative that would handle large quantities of grapes economically and efficiently. The cooperative wears the name of the village where it is located: Capçanes, a village hidden away in the Priorato hills  inland from Tarragona  and with a long wine growing history.
The company was reinvented in the 1990s as an independent company with its original members as shareholders, today they have around 130 members and they produce a large selection of  good quality wines including the well known Peraj Ha’abib – a Kosher wine- under the appellation of Montsant.
