Bodegas Mauro was founded in 1978, this was the personal project of the well known and reputable vigneron Mariano Garcia, who for 30 years was the technical Director at Bodegas Vega Sicilia. Mauro is located in Tudela del Duero a historic town in the province of Valladolid, in the heart of the Duero Valley but just outside the border of the Ribera del Duero Appellation, being the geographical delineation at the time the winery was set up the reason why Mauro was excluded from the Denomination of Origin of Ribera del Duero. Mauro has since then gain a great reputation and is probably the most famous of the region’s producers. It produces wines with a modern style designed to be full-bodied, elegant, which express the identity of the terroir, the characteristic of the grape varieties and personality of the wine maker. The winery produces 3 wines: Mauro the Flagship wine, Mauro VS, with a longer aging period and made from a selection of the best grapes, sourced from 2 main parcels, and Terreus made from centenarian vines sourced from one unique vineyard. The winery is incorporating Sustainable Viticulture with the objective to preserve the biodiversity and the maximum expression of the terroir. In the vineyard no herbicides or pesticides are used. www.bodegasmauro.com
Tasting Notes: Very distinctive with huge concentration of mature dark berry fruit, floral nuances and mineral and spicy hints. Good volume, concentration and complexity with an outstanding lengthy finish and well marked tannins.
Notes: It is recommended to decant the wine. With a good aging potential enjoy it through 2028+.
