Production: 

A 100% Godello wine briefly oaked from vines of 60 years of age growing on gentle slopes on clay and slate soils.

Hand harvested bunch by bunch, grapes selected at the vineyard and at the sorting table, fermented with selected wild yeast, briefly aged during six months in used 500 l. French oak barrels, kept with its lees with weekly stirrings, and followed by an extra three-month rest in bottle.

 

Tasting Notes: 

Bright yellow gold in color. Floral scented nose with white fruit, lemon, peach, apple and a hint of vanilla. Smooth and buttery on the palate, medium-bodied, complex and fresh with citric flavors, peaches and soft pears, aniseed, balanced acidity and a pleasantly long finish.

 

Viñedos y Bodegas Dominio de Tarés

Dominio de Tarés was one of the newcomers in the area attracted by the Mencía grape’s potential. Established in 2000, with its first vintage in 2001 and it has not ceased producing wines with astonishing results; superb wines from the indigenous Mencía and Godello varieties; elegant and complex wines reflecting the excellence of the terroir where they come from.

Situated in the province of León, the heartland of the Mencía grape, the winery is surrounded by high quality vineyards; old vineyards with vines between 40 and 90 years of age growing on a terroir with extraordinary potential in a privileged area; a mixture of slopes and terraces; the soil being alluvial at river level and clay and slate on the slopes. They work 30 ha of their own vineyards as well as about the same amount of rented vineyards. At the winery, the work is carried out on the philosophy of minimal intervention in order to produce more authentic, natural, and expressive wines.
