Production: Made from 100% Grenache old vines Sourced from “Les Coves”, their own parcel located at an altitude of 410 m above sea level and made up mainly of clayey soils, where its vines were planted in 1962. Fermentation takes place at temperatures between 14º – 16ºC. Spent about 4 months in stainless steel tanks, on its lees with frequent battonage to gain complexity and volume.
The Xavier Clua Wine Cellar is situated in the Village of Vilalba dels Arcs, one of the twelve communes of the Denomination of Origin of Terra Alta. A long established celler, for four generations, the name of Clua has been associated with the production of wines and today is the latest generation, led by Xavier Clua who runs the viticulture and the winemaking side of the business. The family owned vineyards are located around the village of Vilalba dels Arcs, in the heart of the Ebre region in southern Tarragona. The soil is made up of calcareous clays, with low levels of organic material, but rich in elements which favors good drainage and the clime has influences both Mediterranean and continental.
Tasting Notes: Aroma of ripe white fruits, pear, peach and revealing notes of Mediterranean herbs, lavender and thyme combined with a touch of citric. Fresh and pleasant entry on the palate, displays good Mediterranean character and minerality with lots of fruit flavors on the mouth that finishes with an elegant length.
Notes: Best enjoyed in youth over the next 1 -2 years.
