Sourced from 60 years old Grenache Vines from a set of small plots of 2 ha. each located on the hills of Coll d'Alsina in West of Gandesa. The cultivation of the vineyards is organic, only using organic fertilizers and natural products.

The wine is now organically farmed and duly certified by the authority CCPAE the Catalan Council of organic production, the public watchdog responsible to the ministry of Agriculture of the Catalan Government.

Production:

The harvest is done manually, followed by a careful sorting of the grapes in the vineyard.

Fermented in French Allier oak barrel for 15 days and aged in the same barrels for 6 months.

Tasting Notes: Shows an attractive nose of ripe fruit, pear, tropical fruits, honeyed aromas, minerals, and dry flowers. Smooth texture, layers of flavours with balanced, refreshing acidity. Hints of toast and good depth.

Note:  Best enjoyed over the next 3 - 4 years.

Celler Bàrbara Forés is a family owned winery that dates back to the 19th century. It takes the name from its original founder and winemaking, a pioneer of the 19th century, Bàrbara Forés (1825-1905), who together with her son Rafael Ferrer, built the Bodega and equipped it for bottling wine, which was something rare in that century. Now the winery is in the hands of their descendant Carmen Ferrer and her husband Manuel Sanmartin, who took the winery over in 1994, restoring it and making it work again. Actually, they have 45 ha. of which 22 ha. are planted with vines.
