Cal Pla is a young white wine sourced from younger vineyards facing north-west, planted on terraces or steep slopes, at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level. The plots are located around the village of Porrera in the appellation of Priorat in the Catalan region.
A coupage of Macabeu, garnacha blanca, and moscatel from own vines growing on "llicorella" slate-based soil and aged in steel tanks "sur lie" for 5 months
Pale yellow colour with a green hue. Rich but balanced wine; floral and full of white fruits, green apple, pear, and lemon notes; mineral-forward with touches of Mediterranean herbaceousness. Entry on the palate is fresh, displaying notes of white and citrus fruits, persistent finish with a nice citrus element.
Celler Cal Pla is a small, family-run winery, dating back to 1814. It is located in the village of Porrera, a small village in the heart of the highly acclaimed wine region of Priorat. Cal Pla is the name of the family and the house, which gives the name to the wines. They can be proud of their more than 200-year history, that has seen various generations working hard, growing vines and making wines, to pass on the legacy to their descendents. Today it is in the hands of the seventh generation, run successfully by Joan Sangenís, which is making an interesting range of wines, all produced from grapes grown in the family’s own vineyards and bottled in their cellar.
