Vinification: Second wine of Santi Puig at his project Ca L’Apotecari de Porrera, acuvee of mainly Carinyena combined with Cabernet Sauvigon sourced from vines planted in 2002 from the vineyard “Los Perers”, grapes grown under ecological standards on extremely rocky schist (Llicorella). Manually harvested and selected both at the vineyard an at the sorting table. Fermented in stainless steel deposits at low temperature, the wine has aged for 6 months in used French Allier Oak Barrels. Bottled without filtration. Production of 1870 bottles
Ca L’Apotecari de Porrera: The project of Santi Puig, paying honors to his antecessor, his great-uncle Jaume, the last “Apotecari” of Porrera, starts when he takes over at the beginning of the century the two plots of land belonging to his great-uncle: “Los Perers” and “Les Eres”, Los Perers is located at 500 meters of altitude with a very steep configuration that had to be terraced to allow laboring and good water retention. The soil is the characteristic slate, known locally as llicorella. It was updated in 2000 with very low yielding new plants of four varieties: Garnatxa, Carinyena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. “Les Eres” is destined to white Carignan, but it is not yet ready for quality production. After working and experimenting at the Celler for more than a decade, Santi felt ready to launch his first wines, always bearing in mind to produce a very select wine in small quantities, he pays great attention to the agricultural practices, working the vineyards by ecological standards although it is not certified.
Tasting Notes: A priorat wine with the freshness and tipicity of its youth. Outstanding freshness, lovely round red fruit, spice and mineral with rich flavours and structure.
