Production:  The Melix is the thrid red wine of the Melis celler’s range, here the Grenache takes main role expressing its ripeness, the harvest takes place at a later stage middle of November. made from selected vines from own vineyard “Les Solanes” located near the village of Torroja de Priorat, growing on a pronounced slope at an altitude between 270 and 400 meters above sea level on licorella soil. The winery was founded in 2000 and it is located also in the village of Torroja de Priorat, the wine mas made by the oenologist Antoni Sanchez Ortiz during his time as winemaker and viticulturist in Melis – D.O.Q. Priorat. The grapes sourced for the Elix have been harvested manually, sorted in the vineyard with a second selection by hand on a sorting table, fermentation is long and slow in stainless steel tanks and in 600 liters oak barrels followed by an ageing of 18 months in used French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Dark and deep in colour. Very intense and forward, ripe black fruit, spicy with a floral edge. Concentrated fruit on the palate, ripeness, firm backbone with ripe fine tannins, tobacco, mineral notes, large and persistent.

It is recommended to decant, will continue to evolve in the bottle
