The flagship wine of Bodegas Casa Castillo, single varietal of Monastrell, a single estate wine from "La Solana", 8 ha of ungrafted and dry farmed vines planted in 1942, south-facing on poor limestone soils.

Production:

Fermentation of destemmed grapes with native yeast. Maturation in 500-liter oak barrels for 16 months.

Tasting Notes: 

Intense cherry color, sweet nose, notes of black and red fruit jam, mixed with mineral and spicy notes. On the palate it shows a great tannic structure, tasty and round with ripe fruit, toasted notes, chocolate and liquorice. Very long and persistent finish.

Notes:  Two hours decanting is recommended. A wine with an outstanding potential longevity.
