Botijo Rojo is a garage wine, pure Garnacha, dry-farmed, hand-harvested and aged in cement deposits. The wine is organically grown and with minimal intervention.

Produced under the I.G.P. Valdejalón, in the province of Zaragoza. The vineyards are located in the village of Valdejalón, where they get full influence from the Jalón river.

Growing at 450 meters of altitude on soils made up of limestone with a clay layer and alluvial ridges.

Winemaking:

Fermented partly with stems (8-10%) and autochthonous yeasts, 20 days in cement deposits.

Ageing for 7 months in underground cement deposits.

Tasting notes:  Delicious pure Garnacha red wine without any make-up, expressive and forward, fresh and fruity with scents of violets, strawberry and cherry and quite mineral. Ripe and fresh with soft tannin, rich red fruit, mineral notes and good acidity.

WINERY

Bodegas Frontonio is the personal project of Fernando Mora, Master of Wine, together with two personal friends, Mario López, winemaker at Bodegas Borsao and the lawyer Francisco Latasa. A perfect team of young people, passionate in creating wines and fully committed to sustainable development, human rights and the environment. The project was launched by Fernando Mora in 2008, starting off making the wines at his parents’ garage.

A Micro-winery in the Denomination of Origin I.G.P. Valdejalón, an appellation in the province of Zaragoza, characterized by its peculiar microclimate and soils very poor in organic matter, ideal for the perfect ripening of the Garnacha grape.

Currently they manage 25 ha. dry farmed vineyards of different ages, exposures and altitudes.

The winery is a 200-year old house with an underground cave, where the wines are aged.

100% of the wines arrived at the winery straight after being hand-picked to ensure maximum quality. Work is carried out organically and with the minimal intervention, using technology only when strictly necessary.

The top wines are grape stomped, a technique that prevents the seeds to break, and avoid the bitter taste it he wines, a tradition that they like to practice.
