Goliardo Caiño is made with 100% Caiño grapes. A Galician native winegrape variety practically forgotten and recovered in small vineyards close to the sea.

The Caiño is characterised by its high fertility, early budding, and a long maturity cycle; it is quite sensitive to oïdum but resistant to botritys with high acidity due to the influence of the Atlantic climate.

It comes from old vineyards between 45 and 160 years old, located near the sea on granitic, sandy, and pebble soil.

Production:

The grapes are harvested by hand. Natural fermentation of destemmed grapes with indigenous yeasts in open stainless steel vats. Aged for 12 months in used 225-litre barrels.

Very small production.

Tasting Notes:

Plenty of colour. Fragrant, intense fruity and floral aromas, ripe red fruits, light spicy and saline notes, balsamic and ecucalyptus herbs. Persistent on the palate, with good structure and body, high acidity, and soft tannins.

BODEGAS FORJAS DEL SALNÉS

Forjas del Salnés is the project of Rodrigo Méndes and Raúl Pérez, founded in 2005. The winnery is located in the Val do Salnés area of Rías Baixas. A project that produces a series of excellent wines from 7.5 hectares of vineyards, partly owned and partly leased, distributed between Meaño, Sanxenso, and Barro.

They carefully select their vineyards, searching for and recovering old vineyards and farming organically. All the plots are vinified separately, and only wooden vats, large used barrels, and stainless steel vats are used in the winery.
