Predicat belongs to the Bodega’s range of wines elaborated under the DOQ Priorat. A blended red wine made from grapes grown in terraced vineyards on slate soils from 35-year-old vines from EL Molar's own vineyards.
Production:
Grapes from ecological and sustainable agriculture. Hand-picked. Fermentation takes place in 5000-liter steel tanks with native yeasts, followed by 9 months of ageing in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: A wine with an excellent quality-price ratio. Fresh, aromatic, and quite fruity, with a distinct minerality.
THE WINERY
Grifoll Declara is a small, family-owned operation founded in 1880. They own two wineries in the small town of El Molar, in the southwestern part of the Priorat region (Tarragona), a village that has the singularity, because of its location and the geological characteristics of its soil, to be able to use two different denominations of origin, DOC Priorat and DO Montsant.
Actually, the operation is managed by the fifth generation, which is dedicated to the cultivation of vines, almonds, and olive trees on 72 plots of 100% self-owned vineyard, cultivated according to organic and traditional viticulture. The same philosophy is followed in the winery, where they always select indigenous yeasts, use the minimum amount of sulfites necessary to maintain the wine's stability, and do not use any animal products, making it fully suitable for Vegetarians and Vegan-friendly.
