La Volada is the winery's more recent release, a youthful, fruity white wine organically farmed and the first wine in Spain made from unspecified white varieties that are naturally resistant to fungus and other vine diseases.

The wine is part of the VRIACC Project, the result of the research and cultivation of grape varieties resistant to climate change, resulting of the crossing of traditional noble varieties with rustic wild varieties to obtain a natural resistance to vine diseases, thus eliminating the need for all treatments and achieving cleaner and healthier wines.

The wine is marketed outside the Denomination of Origin Penedès, as the grapes are not authorised by the DO.

It is a young, fresh white wine. The grapes are cold macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature.

Tasting Notes:

Bright straw yellow colour. Fresh and youthful, fruity aromas of apple and peach, floral with a hint of herbaceous undertones. Medium body with excellent acidity and a saline touch.

Albet i Noya is an innovative family-run winery located on the Can Vendrell de la Codina estate in the Ordal Mountain range (Barcelona) in the Penedès region. The family has been one of the pioneering organic winemakers in Spain. In 1978, the family began a long process of continuous changes, switching 100% of the estate over to organic farming methods, a commitment that has remained firm throughout more than 40 years and has earned the family a solid reputation in organic agriculture and sustainable vineyard practices.

Today, the winery is run by the fifth generation and produces a wide variety of different styles of wines and sparkling wines from both, local and foreign varieties. They control 145 hectares, of which 80.5 hectares are dedicated exclusively to vine cultivation. These are small plots with calcareous and clay soils surrounded by forests in a typically Mediterranean area in the Penedès sub-area of the Ordal Mountains.

All their production, both from their own vineyards and from their suppliers, is certified by the CCPAE (Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production).

In addition, Albet i Noya leads the fungus-resistant varieties project, VRIAACC (Resistant and Autochthonous Varieties Adapted to Climate change), a project that aims to reduce sulphur and cooper treatments in the vineyard as much as possible resulting in cleaner and healthier wines for the customer.
