Small family owned winery with a long winegrowing tradition, 500 years in the hands of the same family, located in the very heart of the Mosel, in the village of Brauneberg, where the 15th century house that held the original cellar is still proudly standing to be the oldest building in the village. Since 1995, Marcus Haag the grandchild of Willi Haag, has been in charge of the cellars, where he produces a wide range of wines focusing entirely on the Riesling variety combining tradition with innovation. All the grapes are sourced from their estate, just 6.5 hectares of vineyards, steep slate-soil vineyards. Some of the vineyards sites are located on the “Juffer”, the name of the steeped slope opposite the small town of Brauneberg and overlooking the river Mosel, sites with an exceptional potential ideally suited to the Riesling grape, here the best vineyards are situated around the sundial (Sonnenuhr) making this one of the top German ideal locations for Riesling winegrowing. An excellent range of wines praised for its excellent quality-price ratio.

The Riesling "Alte Reben" Grauschiefer Trocken is made from grapes sourced from the old vines of family estates own vineyards along the Mosel river principally from the village of Brauneberg, from soil made up of weathered blue and grey slate.

Tasting Notes: Very fresh start, tropical fruit, green apple and citric notes, good minerality with refreshing acidity, creamy textured with a lovely balance between fruit and acidity.

Notes: Good capacity for ageing
