Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles is made from Grenache and Carignan centenarian vines with very low yields that are planted around the village of Poboleda in 1902 on hillsides of very steep slopes at an altitude of 350-450 metres above sea level. The soil is made up of the characteristic slate, named "Licorella".
The grapes are hand-sorted both in the vineyard and the cellar to remove overripe grapes. At the winery sorting table, the grapes go through a rigorous second- and third-hand selection.

Fermentation of gently destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks. The wine has been aged for 14 months in new and second-year, very fine-grained French oak barrels. Bottled in March 2023 without clarification or filtering.

Tasting Notes:

A vintage with plenty of grapes, good acidity, and perfect ripening. Full-bodied and concentrated, with a good nose of very ripe black spice fruit, slight mineral, and graphite notes. Dense and muscular, nicely balanced, with good fruit and creamy oak. Ripe tannins well integrated. Clean, healthy fruit, character, and expression of region and vintage.

It is recommended to decant this wine at least 2 hours before serving. This wine will keep well for the next 15 years and will gain even more complexity with time in bottle.
