El Pecado is 100% Mencía from the region of Ribera Sacra; this was the first wine from Raúl Pérez from the area of Ribera Sacra and one of the most successful and sought-after.

A Mencía wine that is made in Adegas Guimaro, always sourced from the Capeliños vineyard, a very old vineyard situated in an exceptional site with steep slopes that belong to Guimaro. It is sold without the Designation of Origin seal.

60% destemmed grapes are fermented in an open 3000-litre oak vat with native yeasts and aged in used oak barriques for approx. 12 months. As with most of Raúl’s wines, the production of El Pecado is very limited. 1000 bottles produced.

Tasting notes: 

Mineral and perfumed with a note of dry flowers and aromatic herbs; hints of ripe black fruits, currants, and raspberries; and a touch of spiciness. Elegant, complex, and very stylish, with great acidity and fine tannins.

Notes: It has excellent capacity for ageing. It will continue to evolve for several years and will drink well for 10–15 years.

The collaboration with other winemakers and wineries has also proved a great success. He works with the autochthonous varietals of the area. He makes amazing wines in different appellations in Galicia and elsewhere, always small and selected productions. Getting hold of his wines is not that easy, as they are probably one of the most sought-after.
