Lousas Seoane is a red village wine of very limited production, sourced from a single parcel located in the Doade area of Amandi, Ribera Sacra. It is produced by winemakers Miguel Anxo and Envínate for the Envínate project's Atlantic Wines. The wine is marketed without geographical indication.

Lousas, the name in Galician to designate the type of "slate" soil that predominates in the Armandi sub-zone of the Ribeira Sacra, gives its name to the range of wines produced by Envinate in the Ribeira Sacra in collaboration with Galician viticultors. These wines are marked by the influence of the Atlantic and the slate soils in the singular vineyards where they come from.

Seoane is a blend of mainly Mencía and a small percentage of other indigenous varietals. It comes from a single parcel with 80-year-old vines facing southwest at an altitude of 500 metres and soil composed of slate and schist.

Production:

Manual harvest with grape selection in the vineyard. Fermentation with whole clusters in open vats with indigenous yeasts. Spontaneous fermentation in neutral French oak barrels.

Aged for 11 months on its own lees in 500-litre neutral oak barrels. No racking or addition of sulphites. SO₂: 35 mg/l

Tasting Notes:

Clean, vivid cherry hue. Displays a mineral, highly fragrant nose with spicy undertones, red fruit (strawberry, redcurrant) scents, and hints of undergrowth. Plenty of fresh fruit, silky texture, fine tannins, and a well-structured with nerve. To be enjoyed for years to come.

THE PROJECT

Envinate is the venture of four friends who, after studying oenology together, embarked on a project that was unique to them. Currently, it has established itself as a solid and dynamic project with great recognition and prestige for its "Terroir" wines, both nationally and internationally, which are highly sought after for their excellent value for money.

Following their passion and ideals and with a lot of work and their own expertise, they have proudly created a range of honest, authentic wines from distinctive areas, mainly in the area of Ribera Sacra and also the Canary Islands, always working with the local varieties to create wines that speak of the terroir where they come from.

They work in a natural style, using no chemicals in any of their vineyards; all grapes are hand-harvested and using wild yeasts. Sulphur is added in those cases where it is needed, such as during bottling and ageing in old barrels and concrete vats.
