Production: Blended from different wines averaging 10 years, from low yielding vineyards in the Vinha da Pisca/Vale do Pinhão/Ferrão region of the Douro Valley, considered one of the most promising wine regions in Portugal, the average vine age is over 60 years old. Hand-picked, aged in the Cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, the grapes are trodden in lagares and aged in small old oak casks of 550 l. for 10 years. Elaborated by Niepoort Vinhos a small independent family business since 1842 and now run by the fifth generation of the Niepoort family, Dirk Niepoort
This is a port wine with a characterised by its tawny color, complexity of aromas, freshness and a persistent bouquet, aromas of dried apricots and crystallized peel with a nutty character. Full-bodied with lots of sweet fruit and a long subtle finish.
Notes: Good match with cheeses and chocolate-based desserts, also can be drunk as an aperitif, served at room temperature or lightly chilled.
