Raimon Castellvi from Celler Encastell in Porrera, goes back to his roots to elaborate his own wines in the village of El Guiaments, the same village where he originally comes from and where still stands the old family home “Cal Bessó”, and it is here in the celler´s house where Raimon has buil-up a Celler to make his own wines within the DO Montsant. The first harvest took place in 2015, a small production from their 7ha of vines.

Production:

La Prunera is made mainly from Hairy Grenache, sourced from old vines, over 80 years old, from la finca “les Rotes” in El Guiaments and Carignan, the two main autochthonous varieties that better represent the character of the DO Montsant. The wine ages during 12 months in French oak barrel (40% new oak).  3000 bottles produced.

Tasting Notes:  Warm and dense with scents of spice, infused with dark cherry and crushed fruit, a touch of Mediterranean herbs, minty nose. Round and soft-textured, rich dark fruits with hints of spice, mineral touch with a gently tannin-in fused finish.

Notes: Drink now and up to 5 years. Good ageing potential.
