Raimon Castellví of Celler Encastell in Porrera returns to his roots to elaborate his own wines in the village of El Guiaments, the same village where he originally comes from and where the old family home "Cal Bessó" still stands, and it is here in the cellar's house that Raimon has built up a cellar to make his own wines within the DO Montsant. The first harvest took place in 2015, with a small production from their 7 ha of vines.
Production:
Lo Cirerer is made from grapes sourced from the vineyards "La Presa" and "Les Rotes" in Els Guiaments, mainly made from Black Grenache and, in smaller proportions, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, and Tempranillo. The wine ages for six months in French and American oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, it's fresh and fruity, with hints of dark cherry, subtle spice, and a forest herb edge. Rounded and easy-drinking, medium-bodied, fruity with rich flavours, and finishing with excellent freshness.
