Valtosca is a single-varietal Syrah wine certified organic, a wine with a Mediterranean character coming from two plots, Valtosca and Aguilanda, located in the Sierra del Molar and El Valle, with stony calcareous soils covered with Tosca limestone.
Produced in the region of Murcia by Bodegas Casa Castillo, a family winery that for 3 generations has been dedicated to the cultivation of very low-yielding, dry-farmed vineyards on the north side of the Sierra del Molar.
Production:
Hand harvested. Fermented partly with full clusters and native yeast.Maturation took place in 5000-liter oak foudres and 500-liter oak barrels for 12 months.
Tasting Notes:
Dark cherry-coloured wine with a Mediterranean character. Intense aromas of ripe black fruits (plums, blueberries), intermixed with spicy and floral notes, a toasted background, and balsamic sensations. Succulent, ample, and structured; silky and juicy tannins, liquorice and menthol notes. Finishing frutal with a slight balsamic note.
Notes: Delicious now and will age well in bottle for up to a decade.
