Production: 

Sourced from their 300 hectares of the Ygay Estate’s vineyards, situated at 500 metres above sea level.

Hand harvested, grapes are first carefully destemmed and fermented at a controlled temperature of 25ºC in stainless steel tanks for approximately 8–11 days, with regular remontage and pigeage processes.

Aged in 225-litre American oak barrels for 20 months (of which at least 8 months in new oak), followed by a minimum of 12 months in bottle before being released.

Tasting Notes:

It has a spicy, vanilla, and leathery nose combined with dark cherry and smoky notes. The palate is ripe, succulent, and round, creamy-textured with flavours of blackberry, tobacco, and a fine edge of spice. A good introduction to superior classic red Rioja.

Notes: It is recommended to let it breathe for at least 20 minutes before serving. It drinks beautifully now and through 2033.

THE WINERY

Marqués de Murrieta, founded in 1852, is a family business and one of the most famous Rioja producers. This project is a way of life. With over 150 years of history, they have succeeded in adapting to modern times while maintaining, at the same time, the winery’s identity with a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, which is transmitted and reflected in all the wines they produce.

The winery includes almost 300 ha of vineyards in the southernmost part of La Rioja Alta. The extension of its estate makes Marques de Murrieta one of the few Spanish wineries whose wine is 100% made with their own grapes, thus enabling them to take extra care of the vineyards and to have total control over them.
