Production: Priorat is a very special place, up in the mountains the scenary is of great beauty, and the wines here are some of the finest made anywhere in the world, and as with all the great wines, their potential lies in the terroir and in the work and dedication of the wine growers and all the forefathers who had looked after the vines and written the history for the present generation to continue, and this is exactly what the the latest addition to the Familia Nin-Ortiz, “La Rodeda”, is all about. Sourced from a single-vineyard “Tros de la tereisna i Daniel”, a small plot of just 0.4 ha planted with Garnacha Peluda a strain of the traditional local Garnacha, with a more rustic characteristic but creating fine and delicate wines, vines of about 80 years of age growing on a steep sloped hillside made up of black slate soil, above the village of Porrera. Organic and biodynamic farming. Hand harvested. Fermented whole cluster with natural yeasts and maturing in a new oak barrel. The 325 bottles produced in this first vintage of 2017 comes duly certified as “Velles Vinyes” by the DOQ Priorat.
Nit de Nin is the personal project of Ester Nin, the winegrower from Clos Erasmus, being 2004 her first vintage. The wine is organically farmed using biodynamic principles, with a great emphasis in the respect of nature and of the expression of the priorat terroir. Respect of the environment makes itself throughout the winemaking process, from the grape harvest down to the bottling. The grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted.
Tasting Notes: Elegant and complex nose of red and dark berry fruits, mineral and spicy notes and a touch of liquorice. On the palate the wine has texture, class and distinction with a perfect balance of acidity and dryness.
Notes: With a good aging potential it can be enjoyed now through 2028.
