Sourced from 37-70-year-old vines from 3 different vineyards (Coma Nicolau, Coma Roquera, and coma Gigolà) at an altitude of 120-234 meters above sea level and belonging to each of the 3 families involved in the Project of Orto Vins. The plots are located around the village of El Masroig in the appellation of Montsant in the Catalonian region.

The best grapes from each plot were selected and vinified separately to transmit all the qualities from each vineyard and to obtain a better balance of characters. The wine has been aged for 12 months in 4º year French oak barriques. The vinification is done in the Cooperativa del Molar.

For consuming over the next 10 years.

Tasting Notes: 

Attractive, harmonious, aromatic, and mineral nose. Intense, ripe, and succulent fruit on the palate. Good weight and warm, with a creamy texture and a touch of nicely smooth integrated oak and very fine tannins.

Orto Vins started in 2008 as the result of a joint project by four vine growers from El Masroig, a small village inside the appellation of Montsant in the Catalonia region.

Jordi Beltran, Josep Mª Beltran, Josep Mª Jové, and Joan Asens come all of them from families with a long tradition in vine growing. With this project, headed by Joan Asens, an experienced oenologist best known for his work during 15 years in Alvaro Palacio's winery in Gratallops, where he was in charge of the viticulture and vinification side, they return to their origins and continue to blend the finest quality wines from their own vineyards, according to their traditions.
