Bodegas Casa Castillo's flagship wine is a single varietal of Monastrell from "La Solana", an 8-hectare vineyard planted in 1942 on poor limestone soils facing south. The vines are ungrafted and dry-farmed vines planted in 1942.

Production:

Fermentation of destemmed grapes with native yeast. Maturation in 500-litre oak barrels for 16 months.

Tasting Notes: 

Intense cherry colour, sweet nose, notes of black and red fruit jam, mixed with mineral and spicy notes. On the palate, it shows a great tannic structure, tasty and round, with ripe fruit, toasted notes, chocolate, and liquorice. Very long and persistent finish.

Notes: Two hours of decanting is recommended. A wine with outstanding potential longevity.
