This high-quality wine is made from 100% Tinto Fino (the local name in Ribera del Duero, also called Tinta del Pais, a local variant of Rioja's Tempranillo).

Production:

Harvested exclusively by hand following a careful selection process of the best grapes, sourced from 7 different villages in the province of Burgos, on different varieties of soils, with vineyards ranging in age from 40 to 80 years.

Ageing takes place 50% in new French and American oak barrels and the rest in 1- and 2-year-old American and French oak barrels for 16 months.

Tasting Notes:

Spiced dark berries on the nose, with floral and toasted undertones. On the palate, it shows a good concentration of ripe dark fruit flavours, liquorice, tobacco, and spices, as well as freshness and minerality with good depth. Round with enveloping and balanced tannins, it displays good acidity. Great length and displays a sweet character at the finish.

Notes: It is recommended to decant the wine. It will continue to evolve over the next 2–3 years, and while it can be consumed right away, it will become more complex over time.

Bodegas y Viñedos Aalto is a partnership between the well-known vigneron Mariano Garcia (Bodegas Mauro) and Javier Zaccagnini (Bodegas Ossian). The winery is located in the municipal district of Quintanilla de Arriba, in the highly acclaimed wine region of Ribera del Duero.

Aalto is the result of a careful selection of high-quality grapes. The winery controls, under strict supervision, 100 ha of very old, low-yielding vineyards with very old clones of Tinto Fino of outstanding quality, located in 7 different villages of the DO Ribera del Duero. Aalto is now regarded as one of Spain's major wines, having earned a well-deserved reputation not just in Spain but also worldwide.
