Tanca Els Ulls is a young, Mediterranean white wine, 100% Macabeo from old vines. Made by Cesc Boronat, the man behind Celler del Cesc, a small winery born in 2014, where he works the family vineyards located in the village of Nulles in El Alt Camp, Tarragona. The vineyards are cultivated organically in a respectful, environmentally conscious manner, always looking for wines that capture the essence of the surrounding landscape.
The Macabeo grapes come from the family's vineyards, "Coster de les Bruixes" and "L'Alzina", from old vines over 80 years old, growing on calcareous, loamy soils, cultivated organically, and surrounded by forest and other plantations such as hazelnut, almond, and olive trees. Due to their proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, the vines benefit from the sea breeze, which cools the vines and reflects on the wine's personality.
Elaboration:
The grapes are manually harvested and selected at the vineyards. Maceration for 7 days. Fermentation and aging for 3 months: 30% in amphora and 70% in stainless steel vats.
Tasting Notes:
Natural wine, 100% Mediterranean, with a production of approximately 2000 bottles. Very expressive, fresh, with a good acidity, flavors of Mediterranean herbs, and a slight saltiness.
