Volador Blanc is a young white wine produced by Josep Grau Viticultors in the DO Montsant. A fresh and aromatic wine, a real pleasure to discover.
Production:
Mostly made from White Grenache, the region's star variety that best captures the Montsant's terroir, with a smaller amount of Macabeo. The grapes come from vines between 10 and 15 years old.
The grapes are handpicked, followed by a selection process. Fermentation and subsequent ageing for 5 months take place in stainless steel tanks.
2013 was the first vintage for this new project by Josep Grau. The grapes come from 25 hectares of low-yielding old vines located in the municipal district of Marça. These vines, mainly the native Grenache and Samsó, range in age from 30 to 80 years old. The soils are made up of licorella, and the wine displays all the hallmarks of the terroir where it comes from.
Tasting Notes:
Young and fresh white wine. Crisp and fragrant. Displays aromas of white flowers and stone fruit intermingled with herbaceous and light citrus notes. It presents a refreshing acidity and a pleasantly subtle bitter note towards the end. A friendly and straightforward white wine, ideal to enjoy at any time.
