The Third of the 9+ selections is a 100% Cartoixà Vermell selection. A natural orange wine without added sulphite, made from 100% Cartoixà Vermell grapes from eco-certified vines, a rare local mutation of the Cartoixa, the name with which the Xarel.lo variety is known in Baix Gaià. A white grape that, when in contact with the reddish colour of the grape skin, gives the wine its distinctive pink colour. The grapes are sourced from various plots in the hills around the village.

The 3r Cartoixà Vermell belongs to the range of the single-varietal selection wines. Produced by Celler 9+ in La Nou de Gaià, a small village in the Tarragonès area. Moisès Virgili i Rovira, a winegrower with a strong connection to and passion for agriculture since childhood, is the heart and soul behind this project, which was launched with the aim of making natural wines and giving all the protagonism to the local varieties sourced from their own vineyards.

They work 38 hectares, of which 20 hectares are planted with vines on calcareous soils. The vines are organically farmed and benefit from the influence of the Mediterranean Sea breeze.

The wines are crafted with the utmost respect for the environment and without any additives or preservatives. Only grapes!! Small productions are made.

The vineyards are organically farmed, duly certified by the authority CCPAE, the Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production.

Vinification:

Macerated with the skins for 30 days and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 9 months on its lees with weekly stirring. Bottled without any additives or preservatives, without fining or stabilisation, and without added sulphites.

It is recommended to decant the wine before serving. It may present natural deposits.

Tasting Notes:

Excellent aromatic intensity and an excellent combination of fruity aromas with hints of nuts and sweet notes of cinnamon, quince and honey. Full-bodied on the palate with marked citrus notes and fresh tannins. Finishing with notes of dried fruit such as almonds and hazelnuts.
