Albariño Do Ferreiro is a classic Albariño wine by Bodegas Gerardo Méndez. Born in the fertile lands of the Valley DO Salnés, it comes from the youngest vines, 10 to 50 years old. The vines are grown in sandy soil with granitic rock in a privileged location, without a doubt, with the optimal orientation and altitude.

This wine has been carefully crafted with all the care and passion, reflecting the great dedication of its creator, Gerardo Méndez, the third generation of this small family winery.

Following the family tradition, Gerardo Méndez began to produce wine in their property, La Casa Grande de Galiñanes, in 1973. The family estate is located in Meaño, Pontevedra, in the heart of the Salnés region. The winery and family residence are housed in the Old Manor House. The winery works its own vineyards, which are planted exclusively with the Albariño variety, including the oldest vines in the Rias Baixas denomination of origin.

Production:

A young wine made from 100% Albariño grapes manually harvested. Destemmed, cold pellicular maceration, pressing, and alcoholic fermentation with its fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes:

Clean and bright straw yellow colour. Enveloping fresh nose, fruity and floral, tasty, elegant with an attractive mineral side and saline touch. On the palate, there is a wide range of nuances of ripe fruit, white flowers, a hint of iodine with fresh acidity, and a firm structure, with a silky and elegant mouthfeel and a long finish denoting freshness.
