Anderson Barbier Meyer's first harvest, alongside his partner Anna Darakhvelidze, as part of their new project, "Mas de les Monges", is now a reality. The name pays tribute to the area where the vineyards are located – which they acquired as recently as 2025. These grapes are the heart of the two brand-new wines that kick off their exciting personal venture.

Mas de les Monges Blanco is an exclusive young white wine produced in limited quantities. It is a blend consisting mainly of white Grenache and Macabeo grapes, harvested 100% from two different plots within their own vineyards.

Both grape varieties, sourced from one of the plots, are vinified together. One part is destemmed, while the rest is destemmed and pressed. It is then left to rest in a large fibreglass tank from the end of August until the last week of November.

Additionally, 10% of the Macabeo, harvested from a separate tiny 0.3-hectare plot, takes a different path: it is destemmed and placed in a 300-litre amphora. Left slightly unsealed with a palm's width of headspace to encourage Flor development. After three and a half months, the wine is pressed and blended with the rest of the wine. Finally, the blend is left to rest for a month to allow the flavours to blend thoroughly, and then the wine undergoes a final pressing and ages undisturbed throughout the winter.

Bottled in April 2025.

Tasting Notes

A quite gastronomic wine, clean and intense with good acidity and a long finish.

It is exceptionally versatile, pairing beautifully with a wide variety of dishes.

THE PROJECT

Anderson Barbier Meyer's personal project together with his partner, Anna Darakhvelidze, is launched in 2025 with the debut of their first two vintages. This venture has its origins in "Mas de les Monges", the name of the estate they purchased that same year in the municipality of Horta de Sant Joan in the Terra Alta region.

Anderson Barbier Meyer has enjoyed the finest training and apprenticeship in the wine sector one could wish for. As part of one of the Priorat's most renowned winemakers' families, the Barbier family, his heritage runs deep. His father, René Barbier of Clos Mogador, is regarded almost as a legend in the Priorat, while his brothers each produce their own distinct wine projects, highlighting the family's diverse talent.

For Anderson and Anna, starting this project from scratch represents a major challenge but also a completely natural step in their development. This venture brings their vision to life through two exceptional new wines.
