Can Sumoi is a high-quality sparkling wine made from 50% Macabeu and 50% Xarelo.lo. Made under the traditional method, 100% organically and biodynamically grown, with minimal intervention and no additives or sulphates added. Grapes sourced from a 20-hectare vineyard with soils that are poorly developed, calcareous, and stony in the zone of the Montmell Mountain at an altitude of 400 to 700 metres, planted with native varieties. The result is a lively, fresh, sparkling wine with a distinct Mediterranean character.
Production:
Hand harvested, destemmed, and soft treading in the winery. The process of fermentation takes place in stainless steel tank using indigenous yeast from the vineyard: 14 days in inert and 16 days in the bottle. Aged in bottle for 12 months in rima. Second fermentation following the traditional method.
Residual sugar: 3.5 g/L. SO₂: 40 mg/L.
Tasting Notes: Lively and fresh, with good fruit intensity, floral, hints of rosemary herbs, integrated carbonic, and a slightly saline finish.
Can Sumoi is the latest project of the Raventós family (Raventós i Blanc). Their latest acquired estate is an agriculture farm dating back to 1645, located in the Massís del Montmell, DO Penedès, with vines growing on poorly developed calcareous and stony soils at 600 meters in altitude.
In this ideal setting, the Raventós i Blanc family began their project based on respect for the environment, natural winemaking with the minimum intervention possible, and practicing 100% organic and biodynamic farming.
The result is a range of high-quality natural wines, made from native varieties without the use of additives or any other manipulation. Wines with great personality and quality that transmit the flavour and characteristics of the terroir.
