Promis is made by the Ca'Marcanda winery, owned by the renowned Gaja Family of the Piedmont region. The estate was acquired in 1996 by the Gaja family in the famous Bolgheri district of Tuscany.

The wine is considered a "Super Tuscan", a term used for a style of wine that uses international grape varieties in Tuscany, particularly classic French grapes, along with traditional varieties such as Sangiovese, combining tradition and innovation. The result is complex, full-bodied wines with a great ageing potential acclaimed worldwide.

Production:

The grapes come from "terrebrune" soils in the Bolgheri area and in Bibbona, very complex soils with gravel, limestone and clay outcrops predominating. In Tuscany, a rocky, schistous soil known locally as galestro covers most of the best vineyards.

The vineyards were planted in 1996 on clay soils with limestone and silt, very fertile soils that produce high-quality wines.

The grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. The grapes are destemmed, and the three varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks for about 15 days. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Notes: 

Expressive with good intensity. The nose displays good fruit intensity, ripe red fruit such as cherries and raspberries, tinged with spicy and floral notes. Ample and juicy palate with volume and well-structured round tannins, packed with fruit that will develop into layers of rich, complex, smoky-spicy, with cherry and plummy-fruit flavours. 

Notes: This wine is made to be enjoyed over the next 8 tp 10 years, as it will only get better with age!.
