Production: 

Made from a selection of grapes of the main autochthonous variety in the area, the Grenache, sourced from the estate’s older vines, over 50 years old, located at the higher point in the mountain on slopes and old terraces of clay and granitic soils.

Hand harvested, fermentation at a controlled temperature of 26–30ºC with indigenous yeast. Fermentation started in tank and finished in barrel.

Aged for 12 months in 228 litres new French oak barrels, medium and light toasted, with a further 3 months ageing in tank before bottling

Tasting Notes:

Complex nose, displaying aromas of red berry fruit combined with floral notes and wild herbs. Full-bodied, intense, and elegant; plenty of red berry fruit flavours; fresh with a lively acidity and good length.

The Winery

Founded in 1933 by five families from the village of Capçanes, who together established a cooperative that would handle large quantities of grapes economically and efficiently. The cooperative bears the name of the village where it is located: Capçanes, a village hidden away in the Priorato hills inland from Tarragona and with a long wine-growing history.
In the 1990s, the company was reinvented as an independent company with its original members as shareholders; today, they have around 130 members and produce a wide selection of high-quality wines, including the well-known Peraj Ha’abib, a Kosher wine, under the Montsant appellation.
