Tempus is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Merlot, and Carignan sourced from selected vineyards over 30 years of age, grown on poor chalk and limestone soil.

Production:

Manually harvested and fermented at a controlled temperature below 26ºC. It spent 8 months in casks of French oak, with a further bottle-ageing of 12 months.

Tasting Notes:

It shows a developed nose of mature dark fruits and fruitcakearomas combined with cocoa and spiced notes. Smooth-textured and very approachable, with markedly ripe fruit, good acidity, and pleasant tannins. Spice on the lengthy finish.

Altavins is a small winery located in the Terra Alta D.O., southwest of Catalonia. It was founded in 2001 by Joan Bautista and Jordi Casado. Their vineyards are planted between 350 and 500 metres above sea level on a variety of soils that are well drained, rich in lime, and low in organic matter. The nature of the soils provides their grapes with an exceptionally high concentration of minerals; this, together with the considerable difference in temperature between nights and days while the grapes are ripening, maximises the aromas and flavours of the grapes. Actually, the winery produces a nice range of the highest-quality wines to suit all possible tastes.
